  1. Those are great thoughts, Christine! I can’t think of the exact Scripture right now, but even in the Bible God tells us not to compare ourselves with others because it is not wise! I think He has helped me stop doing that ever since I began doing my art. I know there are much better artists out there than I because they have more experience, but I still love what I do and have been developing my own style. So I just admire others’ art, but don’t compare mine to theirs because we are individuals! What is there to compare?

  2. I needed to read this today! I’ve been having a tough time recently with a medical problem and when I look at my friends I think ‘why can’t I be like her?’ which completely robs me of all joy! Comparison is a difficult trap to avoid but one that I need to if I’m going to make it through this tough season I think.

    • Hi Claire, Thank you for your lovely note. Yes, it is only human to compare ourselves with others and we all do it.
Something I have found helpful is to imagine I was a playing card. Then I ask myself the question, “Would I be happy to place myself back into the pack and choose to be another?” The answer is always a resounding “no”.

Most people have their difficulties only their grief is different from ours.

Good Luck with your health issues, I feel for you because I have had likewise in recent months. Together with medical treatment I have been using intuitive healing with Inna Segal. All I do is listen to her tapes in the morning for about 30 minutes and do. 5 minute exercise from her book at night. It has helped a lot. Christine x
